Baby

Heather and the babies Posted by Hello

Julia - 3 months Posted by Hello

Yesterday G-ma Berrall bought Kyrie her first baby doll. Today, Kyrie is in love. The doll has a stroller and Kyrie has been pushing her all over the house. Whenever the stroller tips over I make a sound like a baby crying ("wah, wah, wah") and do the sign for "cry" to try and get Kyrie to understand that the baby needs a hug and a kiss....so far, this has only incited pretend baby cries from Kyrie, which are much more high-pitched (and way cuter) than mine. She will kiss the baby, though, when we say "kiss" and she even makes the lip-smacking noise. I now call her Mommy Kyrie. Matt asked me if I would be disappointed if Kyrie decided to be a neuro-surgeon instead of a Mommy....hmmm....I'll get back to you on that.

We made a trip to the Hales Corners wading pool today with our friend Dena and baby Jake (almost 10 months old). Jake is 5 months younger than Kyrie, but about the same size and a real cutie - aren't all babies, though? Kyrie had a ball walking through the pool and managed to go under once. I grabbed her up with the result of getting my clothes completely sopped. Oh well. It's the price you pay, right? It actually was quite refreshing.

Later on, Heather stopped by with Kopp's custard. Mmmmmmmm.....need I say more? Pop's is better, of course, but you gotta take what you can get. When Daddy got home he had fun playing with the baby with Kyrie and we enjoyed a number of laughs at the rough treatment the baby receives when Kyrie attempts to put her in the stroller. We are working on "gentle" - the sign of which is softly stroking your own hand. Kyrie likes to do the sign on my hand, but so far I don't think she gets what it means. She has added "Uh-oh" to her vocabulary and is still working hard on the sign for "help" which should come in very handy. I also hear her trying to say a lot of new words in mimic of Mommy and Daddy and don't think it will be long before she is a little jabber-mouth. Oh boy.

Mini-Heart Ache

Last night as I was uploading new photos onto my computer I did a very sad thing. I accidentally over-wrote a few of my older photos of Kyrie - two of which are some of my favorites. And, there is no way to get them back :-( Both of my favorites are on this Blog, but I don't think they are of a quality that is good enough for printing. Let this be a lesson to everyone - be careful with your photos.

I think the heat is getting to my brain! I can hardly Blog right now it is so hot. So, please enjoy the photos of Kyrie at Nana and Pop-Pop's house yesterday. She had fun playing with three buckets of water, pouring one into the other (or, shall we say, all over the deck?). We are hoping to head to Fox-Brook Park again this afternoon for some swimming and a cool-down. More photos to be posted later. I need to sweat now.

Oh, I almost forgot - I had plans to ask a question in each Blog. (In order to encourage some comments.) Here is today's question...

Question: What mini-heart ache has happened to you recently?

Beating the Heat

Hey, could someone open this for me? Posted by Hello

The "Berrall" Family Posted by Hello

I didn't get any photos today, so I thought I would post these - my father took them last weekend at Mauthie Lake. For the record, I do not approve of the first photo, however, it was pretty funny when she pulled the beer out of the cooler...

Once again, we are back to stifling weather, only this time we hit new highs (here at the Kons' House anyway). We beat the heat by visiting Auntie Cathy at her new house - which has air conditioning! That's smart!

Kyrie had a cooling bath tonight and I thought it was hilarious when she started scooping water in her hands and bringing them to her mouth to drink the bath water - yuck! She didn't eat much dinner (can you blame her, it's too hot!), but I brought the remainder of her noodles into the bathroom and she had a good time eating them in the tub. Imagine that! An entire meal right in the bathtub, noodles AND water! How spoiled can you get?

Question: How spoiled is too spoiled? Please comment :-)

Cracker? Posted by Hello

I couldn't decide between all of these photos today, so I decided to post them all! I think I finally discovered the secret to getting Kyrie to smile when I take her picture - I just have to say bul-la-bul-la-bul-la over and over again. She seems to like that.

Anyway, today was a day of new discoveries. It appears that Kyrie is now saying "up, please" instead of just "up". She also is working hard on the sign language for "help", as well as saying the word "help" (which sounds a lot like "up" when at first you hear it, but don't be fooled! she is saying "help" so help her out, man). I forgot to mention yesterday that they weighed her at the Drs. office and she is now a whopping 21 lbs. 7 oz. (That is up from 19 lbs. 13 oz. in early April.) I feel like there is something else she did today that I wanted to report, but I can't remember...

I do know I wrote a speech in my head about embracing motherhood while taking Kyrie on a wagon ride through the neighborhood. Walking makes me philosophize. Yeah, I will spare you that one...for the time being...

It's been a hard day and night

The only shot I got Posted by Hello

Kyrie woke up around 11pm last night absolutely screaming inconsolably. She has been having some serious gas lately and as a result of last night's episode we decided a trip to the pediatrician was in order. Dr. Grunske checked Kyrie out. Thank goodness there was not much to report - no ear infection, althuogh some teeth are coming in in the back, but nothing serious. So....we are going to be giving Kyrie preventative Mylicon (rather than reactionary Mylicon - not that there is any difference in the medication, just a difference of when we give it to her). I really thought she had grown out of this gas stuff, but it looks like not. Bummer.

The picture above was taken as I was chasing her around this evening and attempting to catch and tickle her. She LOVES this game and it absolutely wears both of us out. Hopefully she will sleep better tonight! (Right, Sassy-Gassy-Girl? Right, Mommy!)

Fabulous Father's Day Weekend

Hey, I like lakes Posted by Hello

Please ignore the people behind me and focus on my cuteness! Posted by Hello

This weekend was a whirlwind, but a lot of fun. Friday we went out to dinner with Casey and Cathy at Champs. Kyrie ate an entire loaded potato skin, plus lots of Daddy's fish as well as some of Mommy's meal. She is quite the little pig. It was fun to spend some time with Casey and Cathy as it felt like I hadn't seen them in awhile.

Saturday was Ellen Bozek's wedding. Kyrie came with us to this one as she need to "be shown" to Matt's relatives. We stayed in the Cry Room at St. Mary's and Kyrie wore me out running circles around the place, banging her head on the window, and asking for more fruit puffs. She wore her "pretty pretty princess" dress, but I regret I do not have a photo to share. Hopefully G-ma K. will forward us one??? Everyone said how big she was and what a beautiful dress she had on. That evening Matt went to the reception while I went to one of J.J.'s Baby Showers. It was a lovely evening and J.J. received some nice gifts. Kyrie went home and practically straight to bed - she was quite worn out from the day.

Today, we spent Father's Day at Mauthie Lake. Kyrie enjoyed walking into the lake, despite how cold the water was. I was quite impressed how deep she went even though the water was so chilly. She did begin to shake, so I took her back to shallow water and we had fun playing in the sand. We grilled out for dinner and the boys played frisbee. Kyrie ran around and everyone took turns chasing her. Lots o' fun!

Our only regret is that we did not get to spend a lot of time with Matt's Dad, but we hope he had a wonderful Father's Day. We are both lucky to have the best Fathers and Father-in-Laws that this world has to offer and we hope they both know how much we love them. Kyrie also hopes her Dad knows how special he is to her and how much she loves him as well!

Belching Cuddlebug???

Just chewing my fingers...or is that chicken? Posted by Hello

Peace, Mom! Posted by Hello

I am cultivating completely horrendous habits in my daughter. Not only does she laugh when she farts now, she has also started giggling when she burps. Plus, you can add the word "burp" to Kyrie's vocabulary. I have to admit that she has learned the word from my saying it whenever she does it...is that so wrong? But, I am not sure this is something we should be proud of. Look out boys, here comes Kyrie!

When Matt got home from work today Kyrie ran to him (as usual), but today she also grabbed his legs and hugged them. So, I picked her up and said "hug" as I catipulted her into Matt's arms and she laid her head down on his shoulder, then picked it up and kissed him on the lips before putting it back down again and continuing her hug. It was the cutest, most wonderful thing I have ever seen. I don't think I could've loved either of them more at that moment.

Matt has been tying up my computer with his online study program for his CFP (test is in 4 weeks - I can't wait for it to be over with!), so I haven't had much time to Blog. And, as I am now beat and cannot think of a single creative sentence, I think I am going to let the photos speak for themselves. Our daughter is a (loveable) mischief-maker and we'll leave it at that. Sleep tight.

Becker Wedding Posted by Hello

Yesterday was "one of those days"....you know, where it's not like it was a bad day, but things just didn't quite go my way. Kyrie got up at 6am and just wasn't quite herself. After her nap we had fun with some of the ladies from church (Starbucks and ice cream in the park) in a new group called "Sweet Mondays". I could definitely get into that! Afterwards I had wanted to stop at the library, but I could tell that Kyrie was wiped from 2 hours in the park. So, we went home and she went down for her 2nd nap. Then we went grocery shopping while it downpoured outside and luckily avoided most of the heavy rain. But, when I turned to go to the library for the 2nd time that day, the road was closed! Ugh. I was really looking forward to getting a new book! So....instead we broke open the popsicles. Is there anything more glorious than a fudgesicle on a sweaty summer day? Kyrie enjoyed some licks as well and even though I ended up giving her Tylenol for what I can only assume was her teeth making her super-crabby, the day turned out alright. I did catch Kyrie attempting to climb her bookshelf, which thrills me to no end since it means keeping a constant vigilance once again (it's always something, right....yeah, you veteran moms are going "Ha! Wait till she finds out just how true that is!"). Well, at least maybe we will be able to get to the library today!

Water-logged Weblog

This stuff is wet Posted by Hello

But, ohhhhhh so refreshing! Posted by Hello

Since the weather has chosen to stick to its new standard of stifling, Kyrie has enjoyed a lot of baths in order to cool off. We thought you might like these shots of her enjoying her cool-down time. This weekend was especially busy. Friday night we escaped the heat by having dinner out as a family at the Silver Spur. Saturday we went to Bryan Becker's wedding while G-ma Berrall watched Kyrie and today Matt helped to move Mark and Carrie into their new house. I think we are all a little tired!

New Neighbor Siting: We ran into the new neighbors this evening. Richard and Sandy hail to New Berlin from Milwaukee. They smoke, have a German Shepherd, mow their lawn at 7:00pm (while our daughter is sleeping) and are in their 60s. Could we ask for more perfect neighbors? I predict numerous lawn gnomes before the end of the summer, not to mention the promise of a sleeper-camper. Yeah!

Pistol

Everyone wants to kiss Kyrie Posted by Hello

Hmmm.....how did that get out there? Posted by Hello

Auntie J.J. came over for lunch today and very aptly referred to Kyrie as a "pistol" - a whole lot of sass, combined with a healthy streak of independence, add a tad of goofiness, a dash of insolence, and finally a splash of absolute love and I think you will come up with Kyrie, our Pistol. When she confiscated my cell phone and managed to bring Tetrus up on it and then proceeded to throw it out the front door (in the hole in the screen window), I had a choice - I could laugh or I could cry. As is my standard, I chose laughter and decided to retrieve the camera for this Kodak moment. When Daddy came home we also had a lot of fun listening to Pearl Jam while lying on the floor and looking out the front door. This is Kyrie's newest thing - she likes to pick a spot, really just about anywhere, and plop herself down on her back on the floor (kind of like a dog does) and then stare at whatever is above her, the whole time with this goofy smile on her face. As this is an opportune time to tickle her tummy she has enjoyed quite a few giggles as of late and I have enjoyed plopping down next to her and admiring the view.
