Birthday at Nana's

We celebrated Grandpa Harry and Declan's birthdays at Nana's house this evening, complete with Darth Vader burgers and some leftover Darth Vader cake for Declan.  Declan received his very own 14" two-wheeler bike with training wheels - so exciting.  Somehow, I didn't get any pictures of that, though - whoops.  I will have to take some of him riding it around the driveway now!  He loves it!

15 Months

(Please note that those large white spots in the background are...snowflakes!  Yes!  It snowed heavily - though it did not stick - on Hugo's 15-month birthday - April 19th, 2013!)

It seems that once again the AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics) has changed their mind - they have decided it is now important for toddlers (babies?) to have a 15-month check-up.  So, off we went today to celebrate Hugo's 15-month birthday with three shots and a regular check-up.

It's good we went.  Turns out, my poor Hugo-potamister has a double ear infection.  He hasn't been doing well at naps lately - something I attributed to more teeth movement - but other than that and a slightly more tipsy than normal child, I had not noticed much of a difference in him (oh yeah, he was making more dirty diapers than normal, but again, not something I would have attributed to an ear infection, more likely a cold causing all these abnormalities).  So, poor fourth child with a mother pulled in six (maybe twelve, actually) different directions, I was not on top of this and am feeling quite guilty.  What's funny is that after he had his ears checked and the announcement was made and the doctor left, he looked at me with a pleading essence in his eyes and pulled on his ear.  Then, he made the sign for medicine.  Oh yes, my child did do that.  He really did.  I looked at him and said, "Really?  Why didn't you tell me before that your ears hurt?"  I did the sign back for medicine and he jumped up and down with a smile on his face.  Either Hugo was very excited to get rid of his ear infection or he really loves medicine...

So, beyond that ridiculousness, all is well with Hugo.  He is a growing boy:

Length: 32.5 in. (95th percentile)
Weight: 22 lbs 7 oz. (50th percentile - but, this was only up 1 oz. from his 12-month check-up and was attributed to the mass of messy diapers he has been making.  I am certain as soon as his ear infection is cleared up that it will shoot up at least a pound or two)

We have a lot of fun with this baby, when he isn't sleeping (which is still around 15-16 hours a day!) and are so happy to have him as a part of our family.  We can see glimmers of when Hugo and Declan will be romping around together as they occasionally tumble with one another on the floor and always knock heads in an attempt at hugging each other before bedtimes.  The girls fight over who gets to "take care" of Hugo and, for the most part, do a really great job of keeping him busy and distracted while Mommy makes dinner or helps someone with homework or whatever it is Mommy has to do at that moment (update this blog!).

While life is crazy and chaotic in the Kons house it is never dull and rarely boring and always entertaining.  We wouldn't have it any other way.
