There is exciting news in the Kons house - Lariska is using the potty! It started last weekend at Wisconsin Dells when I told her she could not go potty in her swim diaper. She took that quite seriously and when we got back to our room in the evening announced that she had to go potty - the first time we have heard those words out of her mouth. We rushed her to the toilet and....wooo hoo! She has worn underpants for three days in a row now. We have had two accidents, but way more successes - including two poops! We hope this is the beginning of really great things!
On Saturday evening we celebrated Hudson Rose's 4th Birthday. After dinner we went trick-or-treating in Wauwatosa - so crazy! They close a couple of street blocks and the houses on those streets just go nuts.
Hudson and Kyrie always make fast friends. They are really cute together, but I think that Matt will be having quite a few words with Hudson in the near future. Brooklyn Becker, Lariska Kons, Madelyn Ullsperger, Kyrie Kons, Hudson Rose This was one of our favorite decorations at a house we visited. (If you click on the photo it may become more clear that it is a life-size photo of Palin with a witch's hat on and a "Beware" sign in front of her.)
The Kons family enjoyed trick-or-treating at the zoo on Saturday morning. Lariska (Toad), Kyrie (Frog), Will (Monkey) Will, Gpa, Lari, Kyrie, Gma, Drew (Tiger or Tigger?)
The Bryan & Jessi Becker family were nice enough to invite us over for a Halloween get-together on Friday. The girls absolutely loved playing in Brooklyn's basement and doing some really great crafts that Jessi had for them. It was a really fun night!
Last weekend the entire Berrall Family went to Wisconsin Dells for the weekend. Nine adults and five kids in one villa is quite a lot, but we had a lot of fun once again this year. Lariska even went down one of the big waterslides with Matt, Pop-Pop, and Uncle Jim (Uncle Casey, too?). She didn't talk for like 5 minutes straight afterward, but then all of a sudden she burst out with "we were spinning around and around. It was dark. I wasn't scared." Uh-huh. Sure. Kyrie and Lariska were quite tired by the end of the weekend. They never fall asleep in the car.
We had a much-needed quiet day on Thursday of last week. The girls enjoyed playing with Play-Doh for much of the time. And, I spent some nice quality time with both of them playing, reading, and having fun. I feel like we have been on the go ever since it turned autumn. Kyrie is currently in ballet/tap on Tuesdays, Tae Kwon Do through church on Wednesdays (just for eight weeks, thank goodness), and soccer on Thursday evenings (not to mention preschool on Monday, Wednesday, Fridays). I am happy to say that this is the last week of that schedule! Soccer camp is ending and although it has been very enjoyable I am quite tired of the drive and listening to Lariska complain about how she wants to play soccer, too. To combat the feelings of being left out of everything I have signed Lariska up for art classes on Mondays. Now, at least, she can say that she goes to something too. Sheesh!
