Non-Adventure

Kyrie was talk-talk-talking about trains this afternoon (sometimes her bed doubles as a train and we go for rides all over the place) and mentioned taking the train to the zoo. It was 3:30pm and the sun was shining and her birthday is on Saturday, so I threw caution to the wind and said, "Let's go on an adventure!" Nana was over so together we packed up the girls and hit the road. We called Daddy and I asked him if he wanted to meet us at the "Z-O-O". Moments later, Kyrie said, "Mommy, are we going to the zoo?" Gosh darnit that child is getting difficult. "Yes dear. We are going to the zoo." Only....when we got to the Z-o-o we discovered that it was closed! The sun was shining, it was now 4:25pm and the zoo was closed! I did a very naughty thing and drove in the exit (yikes!) and we at least got to take a quick gander at the penguins, but boy was Kyrie disappointed. She SO wanted to ride the train. I am not sure it is even in operation, but it was sad nonetheless. So much for our adventure! Poor us.

Oh Boy!

Yesterday, after dinner Matt and I were talking about taking the kids for a "W-A-L-K" - spelling it because little ears get too excited and then disappointed if it doesn't end up happening. I asked Matt, "What about a B-A-T-H?" Kyrie said, "B-A-T-H, I want to take a bath!"

I also am fairly convinced Lariska did some of the hand motions to "Itsy Bitsy Spider" last night. It freaked me out. And today we were playing with a stuffed Clifford Dog and I pretended to feed him some of my lunch. Lariska was snacking and playing while I was eating. She took Clifford from me and attempted to feed him some of her snack. It was hilarious. After he wouldn't take it from her (he is a stuffed animal after all) she opted to place it on his back. Maybe she knows something I don't about dog's digestive tracts.

Ugh. These kids.

Beautiful Day

Need I say more than the title? I hear it hit close to 80-degrees today. So refreshing. The rest of the week looks like it is back to more typical Wisconsin weather, so we sure are glad we got to enjoy the morning with Dena, Jake, and Megan McDowell.

Birthday Party

The birthday girl and her big sister. Kayla is one of several kids at our church who were born within weeks of each other. (Kyrie is another.) I think there were something like 9 total within 5 months...something like that, anyway.

Lariska truly had a ball at the birthday party.

Isn't this how everyone eats cake?

Lariska enjoyed the party as well.

Caught on camera - the reason why we had to leave the birthday party early. Note to self: lots of apple juice = lots of pee. Another note to self: Don't let daughter get so busy playing she forgets to use the little girls' room. Oops.

Ring around the rosies. (You may notice that Kyrie's name is spelled wrong on her nametag. That is because she told the writer herself how to spell it. And, she tends to slur the "i" and "e" together when saying "K-Y-R-I-E".)

As of this photograph, Lariska only had one tooth. Now she has three and is working on the fourth.

What is it with babies and laundry baskets? (This was taken a few weeks ago, and I forgot to post it.)
